The CLA Shooting Brake is essentially the estate version of the Mercedes-Benz’s family hatchback. The car is really an A Class but more on the practical side. Yes, it’s very much unlike the Mercs and is a niche car in a segment untapped by Audi and BMW. It’s a true oddball, and Merc’s rivals don’t have much patience for such eccentricity. But I found it to be a better drive than the standard A Class. The Shooting Brake is usefully roomy, and is rather arresting to warrant a look. It’s a versatile, most well-rounded, small Mercedes. The vehicle is a head turner.
