A luxury premium car that potentially endangers your passengers by auto-locking itself!

I have driven my E200 for the past 6 years, and yesterday was an exhausting experience that I hope none of you will encounter. My car was in the car wash, when it decided to auto-lock itself! Fortunately all passengers were out of the car, but unfortunately we were stuck at the car wash in JB. Called C&C who linked me up with Mercedes Singapore Technical Assistance who then reached out to Mercedes Malaysia to arrange for road assistance to come by to unlock my car. This arrangement took 30min or so with back and forth calls. Supposedly 45min - 1hr wait for Mercedes-assigned mechanic. After 15min, the guy called to ask for exact location. 20min after that, the same guy called back to confirm what the issue was and formally announced - over the phone - that he would be unable to unlock the car. Why would Mercedes dispatch a mechanic who cannot do the job? And why couldn’t this guy informed me the same at the first call? And what kind of premium car auto-locks itself?! What happens if the car was parked under the hot sun with a kid in the car and this happens? I can’t imagine. I resorted to calling a general locksmith who got us out of the fix in 5min, without any brute force whatsoever. I should have done this at the get-go, instead of misplacing my hopes on Mercedes. Joke is, Mercedes Singapore then called back to say that the Mercedes Malaysia would need to tow the car back to the service centre to unlock the car. Or I can download some app to remotely unlock the car. Mind you, this was 2 hours into the wait, still hanging around the car wash bay in JB. I couldn’t help but scorn Mercedes for their downright poor service and irresponsible technical expertise, inferior to that of a roadside locksmith. For a brand that prides itself on premium products and outstanding service, this is absolutely a bad taste to the mouth to say the least.
